Job ads have plummeted in the United States over the past several weeks due to the coronavirus outbreak. Trends, however, are pointing to areas of growth in the economy as well as areas of high stress.
Chmura has created a COVID-19 Economic Vulnerability Index, developed by Dr. Chris Chmura and Dr. Xiaobing Shuai. The index gauges the negative impact the COVID-19 crisis can have on jobs in a region based upon the industries present in the area and their expected job losses. Accommodation and food services, for example, are projected to lose more jobs as a result of the coronavirus compared to utilities and healthcare.
In this blog, we are taking a deeper look at these impacts on Washington State, one of the regions that has been hardest hit by the pandemic. Chmura is here to keep you informed.
The U.S. economy is being seriously disrupted by the COVID-19 outbreak. Chmura is here to keep you informed. Our data are already indicating a slowing in hiring, especially in lower wage jobs in retail, food services, and hospitality.
Chmura is proud that JobsEQ plays such an instrumental role in DCCCD’s efforts to make Dallas and its young people more prosperous. “JobsEQ is an essential tool,” Hays says. “We love its interface, its graphics, and most importantly the integrity of its data.”
